Dauphine Street Home Renovation

When you have a love for history, culture, and jazz, the best place to call home is New Orleans. The Marigny neighborhood in the French Quarter offers all of those things and much more; which is why the Owners chose to make it their home away from home...for now, with the intention of retiring there full-time in the future. The historic triplex they purchased needed a complete renovation, but the end result was better than they imagined. Keeping the historic charm while bringing the home into the modern world was the focus of the project. Marrying the old and the new isn't always easy, but it definitely was accomplished with this home. From the beautiful and functional commercial kitchen, to the full length side porches, windows used as passage ways onto the front porch, to the lush backyard, this house is proof that modernizing a home doesn't need to take away from its character or French Quarter charm. Original aspects of the home and staples from it's previous life such as warm hardwood floors, a double-sided fireplace in the living area, and grand chandeliers, mesh beautifully with modern conveniences and beauty like the chef's kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances and quartz countertops, a walk in master bath shower with glass doors, and custom cabinetry throughout the residence.

Keeping the homeowners dream of merging the past and present wasn't an easy feat. There were design challenges in creating the open spaces they longed for while maintaining the original feel of the home. Titan Construction worked closely with the HDLC to make sure the original exterior wasn't interfered with and was kept to look as original as possible. This was challenging but the finished exterior remains unique and period appropriate with roof to porch windows and beautiful louvered shutters. The homeowners and the neighborhood are overjoyed and love this gorgeous renovation.

Magazine Street Codominium to Home Renovation

Living in Louisiana isn't the same as living in New Orleans. The feeling and overall vibe New Orleans offers, is different from any other city in the state, and truthfully, in the world. The Owners reside in Shreveport, Louisiana, but have always been drawn to the never ending festivals and festivities in New Orleans. Having been frequent visitors, when they inherited a Magazine Street condo from a family member, they took it as the perfect opportunity to have a permanent second home in the city. The unit wasn't large enough to accommodate their family and overnight guests, so they purchased the condo next door and decided to renovate the two spaces into one. The homeowners had specific requests as to the design and functionality of the home. They needed a space that reflected their taste, and also felt welcoming and made it easy and convenient to entertain family and friends. They wanted large spaces for gatherings and required a state of the art kitchen that had all of the modern bells and whistles, while still maintaining the look and feel of a traditional Uptown New Orleans home. This was accomplished by installing commercial grade stainless steel appliances in the kitchen and offsetting them with the hand built copper hood and hanging gas lantern pendants over the custom built butcher block topped island. Exposed beams in the living room and bedrooms added antique charm to modern amenities like walk in floor to ceiling tiled showers, and built in shelving and cabinetry. The colors were kept neutral throughout the house which adds to the open and airy feeling of the home. It is now the perfect retreat for the homeowners who visit New Orleans as often as possible.
